Privacy

This page explains which personal data is processed when you visit this website or contact me by email.

1. Controller

This website is run as a private design portfolio by an individual. The controller is Julian Weis, Berlinstraße 92, 55411 Bingen am Rhein, Germany, as named in the imprint.

Contact: Julianweis00@gmail.com

2. Basic principle

This website has no user accounts, no login and no comment function. It does not use cookies, analytics, tracking, advertising or profiling, and it does not store anything in your browser. It loads no fonts, scripts or images from third-party servers; all content is delivered from this site's own domain. No user data is sold. The only link to a third-party service is the link to my LinkedIn profile (see section 5).

3. Website and hosting

The public website is delivered as static pages via Cloudflare Pages. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

When you visit the site, Cloudflare processes in particular IP addresses and technical connection, routing and system information. This also produces operational and security statistics. The processing serves to deliver and protect the website.

Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the secure and reliable provision of the website and the defence against abuse. The connection data arises automatically when the site is accessed; without it the website cannot be delivered.

Cloudflare operates worldwide; exclusively European processing is not promised. For international transfers Cloudflare cites, among other things, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. For processing on my behalf the contract terms provide a Data Processing Addendum. Some network data is processed by Cloudflare under its own responsibility.

Cloudflare determines storage periods according to the purpose of processing, the type of data, security risks and legal requirements. No uniform fixed retention period for access logs of Cloudflare Pages is promised. Further information can be found in Cloudflare's privacy policy and the Data Processing Addendum.

Additional web analytics, advertising, marketing tracking and non-essential cookies are not used. Cloudflare Web Analytics is not activated.

4. Contact by email

The contact form on this website does not send any data by itself. It opens your email app through a mailto: link and prepares the recipient, subject and message. Only you decide in your email app whether to send it. What you enter in the form stays temporarily in your browser and is not transmitted to the website host.

If you send an email, your sender address, your name if provided, the message, technical email metadata and any voluntary attachments are processed to answer you. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary private content. The processing is based on my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Where the enquiry serves to perform a contract or take pre-contractual steps, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR applies.

Your email provider and Google, as operator of the Gmail mailbox used for this website, are involved. For users in the European Economic Area the service provider is Google Ireland Limited, Ireland. Google also processes data outside the EU, for example in the USA, and describes the transfer mechanisms it uses, including adequacy decisions and Standard Contractual Clauses, in its data transfer framework terms. More information is available in Google's privacy policy.

Messages are deleted once the enquiry is concluded, unless statutory retention obligations or a specific need for evidence apply. Providing the data is voluntary; without a reply address and a description, an enquiry may not be answerable. The website remains fully usable without contacting me.

5. Link to LinkedIn

This website contains a link to my LinkedIn profile. Merely visiting this website does not transfer any data to LinkedIn. If you click the link, you leave this website and LinkedIn processes data under its own responsibility according to its own privacy policy. For users in the European Economic Area the provider is LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Dublin, Ireland.

6. Your rights

Where the legal requirements are met, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability (Art. 15 to 20 GDPR). If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future; processing carried out until then remains unaffected.

Right to object: You may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR).

Please contact Julianweis00@gmail.com or use the postal address in the imprint.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the place of your residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for me is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate (Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz).

This website does not use automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effect and no profiling.

7. Changes

I update this policy when the website or the legal situation changes. The current version is the one published on this page.
